Skills

Skills are a catch-all category of abilities which is comprised of both innate talents or capabilities and learned functions. Skills are rated from -5 to +5 with the Human average being +0 in all basic skill categories by default.

There are three basic categories of skills – Basic, Advanced, and Special.

Basic skills are intrinsic abilities and simple things anyone can pick up or potentially have a small degree of aptitude in without much training. Basic skills default to +0 in value when utilizing them unskilled.

Advanced skills require some degree of training or are difficult to just pick up. Using an advanced skill with 0 ranks in it imposes a -1 penalty to the roll.

Special skills simply cannot be used unless you have the pre-requisites for unlocking said skill – whether that be an aspect or some sort of advantage. Using a special skill with 0 ranks in it imposes a -1 penalty to the roll.

+Sorcery is a catch all term for any number of specific disciplines of magick. Each time you learn a new channel for your magick, you must take points in a separate version of the Sorcery skill. For instance, you might have Sorcery (The Inferno) and Sorcery (The Tempest) to represent two separate types of magick.
